Gérard Schlosser

This landmark exhibition of the artist’s work invites the public to discover his work from a chronological and thematic perspective and features sixty pieces, including an ensemble of paintings from his youth, exhibited for the first time

Curators : Samuel Monier and Sylvie Tersen

The purpose of this retrospective is to demonstrate that Schlosser's art expresses much more than first meets the eye. The painter encourages the spectator to appropriate a free and uninhibited space where he can exist fully in everyday life.

A painter of the ‘silent revolt’, Schlosser is an artist for whom reality, and realism, are inextricably connected to the body. The guiding thread of the exhibition, beyond the multiple inflections that mark Schlosser’s work, is to show that his approach is perpetually driven by a recurring question: the place of the individual in his personal and social environment, and is subsequently a critical exploration of everyday life.
