FONDATION PIERRE GIANADDA, MARTIGNY (CH) 4 December 2015 - 12 June 2016
In collaboration with the Fondation Zao Wou-Ki, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda presents the first-ever retrospective devoted to this artist in Switzerland
Curator : Daniel Marchesseau
Covering all of the artist's periods, this exhibition brings together an ensemble of monumental canvases, including several large triptychs, as well as a series of works on paper. The exhibition particularly showcases the artist’s ease and skill for large compositions such as Hommage à Varèse from 1964, now featured in the collections of the Musée cantonal de Lausanne; Hommage à May from 1972 borrowed from the Centre Pompidou, or his Temple des Han from 2005.
Born in Beijing in 1920, Zao Wou-Ki is one of the most famous abstract artists of the twentieth century. He died in Nyon in 2013.
