MUSÉE CANTONAL DES BEAUX-ARTS DE LAUSANNE, LAUSANNE (CH) 1 February 2014 - 27 April 2014
Giacometti, Marini, Richier. La figure tourmentée
The Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne hosts an exhibition devoted to three major sculptors from the 20th century: Alberto Giacometti, Marino Marini and Germaine Richier
Curator : Camille Lévêque-Claudet
As they distance themselves from the academic representation of the body and the figurative illusionist tradition, Giacometti, Marini and Richier reflect on new modes of figuration, to express and render their vision of the human being.
This unique exhibition provides the public with an opportunity to see 70 sculptures and graphic works from these three internationally renowned artists, displayed in Lausanne. On loan from several prestigious public and private collections, both Swiss and European, the exhibition allows the public to apprehend the different facets of their creation, their research around the classical forms of the head and the figure, the perception of the body, movement and the expression of scale and space.
