The Fondation Opale's Aboriginal paintings, brought together by Bérengère Primat, are each in dialogue with a work chosen by one of 26 leading figures from the world of Swiss culture. Formal, poetic and intuitive affinities are the driving forces behind the comparisons freely made by the collectors.

From Bérengère Primat's collection, Jean Claude Gandur chose a painting on canvas by Turkey Tolson Tjupurrula (c. 1938/1942-2002), entitled My Father, the Mitukatjirri Warrior. He set it against an imposing ceremonial house post representing a deified ancestor, chosen from his ethnology collection in the Solomon Islands. It's an encounter that's both visual and spiritual, revolving around the idea of a protective ancestor honoured by his descendants.
