The High Yellow Note
From October 5, 2024, to February 9, 2025, the Vincent van Gogh Foundation Arles will present the exhibition The High Yellow Note, exploring Vincent van Gogh’s quest, and that of the artists he inspired, to achieve the "high yellow note." The Fondation Gandur pour l’Art contributes to this theme through the loan of a work by Asger Jorn.
COMMISSARIAT : BICE CURIGER, MARGAUX BONOPERA
Lemon, fresh butter, ochre, chrome, muted... Vincent van Gogh was fascinated by the countless shades of yellow. This pigment, which particularly illuminated his works created in the South of France, reveals his pursuit of the "high yellow note" to push the boundaries of expressiveness.
The exhibition brings together the work of twenty-two international artists from diverse origins and generations. All engage in a profound exploration of reality, drawing out intuitions and emotions much like Vincent van Gogh, pushing the formal, ideal, and emotional limits of their practice.
The Fondation Gandur pour l’Art contributes to this chromatic exhibition with the loan of a work by Danish artist Asger Jorn (1914-1973), one of the founders of the CoBrA movement.
