The exhibition Vivre et mourir en Égypte, d’Alexandre le Grand à Cléopâtre (Living and Dying in Egypt, from Alexander the Great to Cleopatra) immerses visitors in the complex and rich world of cultural interactions between Egypt and Greece during the Ptolemaic period (332 - 30 BCE).
For three centuries, history witnessed the influence of Egypt across the entire Mediterranean basin. This period, often perceived as a simple Greek domination over Egypt, actually reveals a deep and dynamic intermingling of cultures.
Through this unique journey, visitors will encounter a variety of works, monuments, and ancient papyri that showcase the intense exchanges between these two civilisations, including the meeting of peoples, religious cults, literary works, and funerary cultures.
The Fondation Gandur pour l'Art contributes to this exhibition by lending ten remarkable objects, including a relief with the titulature of Alexander the Great, a statuette of Amun-Ra, and a vase decorated with images of Bes.
