Lecture "The art of living from the 16th to the 18th century" at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris

To mark the publication of Les Arts décoratifs (II), Savoir-faire et art de vivre, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris hosting the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art for a conference on 18 June 2026 at 6.30 pm.

The decorative arts collection of the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art offers an immersion into European creativity during the Early Modern period (16th–18th centuries) through a major ensemble of furniture, objets d’art and clocks assembled by Jean Claude Gandur. The volume Les Arts décoratifs (II), Savoir-faire et art de vivre, published in 2025, sheds light on these objects through the combined studies of a team of around a dozen researchers and curators.

This discussion will bring several of them together to explore both the remarkable technical expertise and the stylistic and ornamental creativity embodied in these works, as well as their dual status as decorative and collectible objects.
