Les Sujets de l'abstraction. Peinture non-figurative de la seconde école de Paris, 1946-1962. 101 Chefs-d’œuvre de la Fondation Gandur pour l’Art
The Subjects of Abstraction traces the history of European expressionist non-figurative painting from the mid-1940s to the early 1960s
EDITED BY ÉRIC DE CHASSEY AND EVELINE NOTTER WITH THE COLLABORATION OF JUSTINE MOECKLI
A very dynamic movement, but still unknown, because for nearly half a century it has suffered prejudices almost always revolving around a hostile confrontation with American art.
Through a hundred or so masterpieces from the fine arts collection of the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art, the curator of the exhibition Éric de Chassey thus intends "to ensure a transformation of the way people look at things, a reversal of prejudices and the possible establishment of new hierarchies [...] that will rehabilitate artists whose time or posterity has, until now, been badly or little considered".
